Health Dentistry - It's about more than your teeth!

Thu, 1st Sep 2016

Here at Dental Care Mt Eliza we value understanding the connection between the problems we see in your mouth every day and your overall general health and well being.

Many people believe that oral health stops at the mouth, however there is a deep connection between the structure and function of the face and jaws and our overall well-being. One only has to experience then neck pain, headaches and discomfort associated with a TMJ (jaw joint) dysfunction to understand the relationship of our body to our health.

‘The longer I practice dentistry, the more I value the time spent understanding the position patients are in’ says Dr. Robertson.

‘Before I start treatment I find it really important to understand what the patient wants and look at what different treatments I can offer.’

There is an art to dentistry, deciding on what treatment will have the most benefit and matching this with what the patient expects and requires.

We’re not into ‘patch up’ dentistry if you’ve had experience with that in the past you know it is only a quick fix, like putting a band-aid on the greater issues. Forget it! Its time you take a fresh approach – Health Dentistry.

We think that it is better to take a more holistic view of dentistry to help us find the causes of dental disease, jaw dysfunction and craniofacial problems. Instead of just treating symptoms, we can help prevent the continuation of these debilitating problems, especially in conjunction with other related health care professionals

We really encourage people to stop suffering in silence; neck and facial pain is often linked to facial/jaw structure and development. If you have jaw pain or headaches let us know, we will assess you and see if we can help.

So if you think its all to hard and your teeth are a mess, let us know, its something we’d love to sink our teeth into!
